Getting to Gaspé

The pandemic has drastically altered public transport (plane, train, bus) to get from Montréal/Quebec city to Gaspé. Montréal and Québec city are well served by Canadian and American airlines, but getting to Gaspé by plane has proven difficult in the last two years.

As a result, we have explored many avenues to offer different options to the participants to facilitate reaching Gaspé. The more practical option is to organise a roadtrip from Quebec City to Gaspé by bus (700 km). Other options such as flying from Montreal to Gaspé using local airlines (Pascan Aviation : pascan.com) or renting a car from Quebec city will still be possible but will have to be organised by yourself –  we can help with local information.

The bus tour to Gaspé

The bus tour from Québec to Gaspé takes a full day, but it is well worth it! Indeed, to cite the Lonely Planet, which ranked the Tour de la Gaspésie as one of the five seaside road tours to discover around the globe, “there’s nowhere quite like La Gaspésie, a peninsula of pine forests and looming cliffs that pokes into the chilly Gulf of St Lawrence”. A 2009 issue of Traveler, published by the renowned National Geographic, also listed the Gaspé Peninsula as one of the « 50 destinations to see in a lifetime ». The region is the only place in Quebec to make the list, and one of only three in Canada. It is also home to some of the world’s most spectacular rivers.  At WWR5, we offer you the chance to take a unique bus road trip from Quebec City to Gaspé with fluvial geomorphologists as your guides!

The plan is to leave Quebec City on Monday, June 10, at 8:00 and get to enjoy the spectacular view of road 132 on the estuary and Gulf of St. Lawrence up to L’Anse Pleureuse, stopping in Sainte-Anne-des-Monts to see the beautiful Sainte-Anne River. From l’Anse Pleureuse, the road trip will take you through the heart of the Gaspé forests on road 198, skirting the magnificent York River before arriving at our final destination of Gaspé just in time for dinner!
