The first edition of the Journal of Perseverance and Academic Achievement for First Peoples was launched by the Centre des Premières Nations Nikanite de l’UQAC, in collaboration with the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport (MELS), on January 29, 2015. This biennial publication stems from the presentations offered during the first edition of the Convention on Perseverance and Academic Achievement for First Peoples, held in March 2014.
The issues raised by the works published in the Journal are at the forefront of the current concerns in the world of education among First Peoples. In order to highlight the contribution of the writings of the journal and activities surrounding the conference in the field of education among First Peoples, several major players in the community attended the event, including Quebec’s Minister of Education, Recreation and Sports and Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Science, M. Yves Bolduc; the Minister responsible for Aboriginal Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Kelley; and Mr. Stéphane Germain, Vice Chief of Community Relations of Mashteuiatsh.
The ultimate goal of CPNN activities surrounding the Convention on Perseverance and Academic Achievement for First Peoples and the publication on the same theme is to better disseminate information. For this reason, the Journal of Perseverance and Academic Achievement for First Peoples is posted on the website, to make it accessible to all. It will be available under this tab in a near future.
